However, if you have an owner’s policy, the title insurance company has a duty to defend you in court, if needed, and cover the legal fees along with any monetary compensation awarded by the court to the person who brought the issue forward.  Therefore, you’ll not only be able to keep the house but also have the title issue removed without paying a dime, other than the initial title insurance premium.
